A Tiny Traveler Settles In

Chimi’s story begins in August 2023, when she and a pitbull were left at our farm together. We immediately set about finding their owners. We contacted local police and the SPCA, checked both dogs for microchips, and searched local lost and found pages for missing dogs. Sadly, no one came forward.

We were offered the chance to keep both dogs, and we gave it serious thought. But we already had a dog who is reactive to larger dogs, especially males, and the pitbull was a male. He also needed significant veterinary care that we weren’t in a position to provide. After weighing everything, we decided the best thing for him was to be surrendered to the SPCA, where he could get the treatment he needed. He received that care and was adopted by a loving family.

Sun-Seeking Speedster

Chimi’s first days with us were a whirlwind. She arrived right before our week-long family vacation, and the time together helped her bond with us quickly. When we got back to the farm, she began settling into her new home, and her personality slowly started to shine through. She’s spunky, and she loves to race around in wild, zigzagging circles. Don’t underestimate those tiny legs: they carry her surprisingly fast and surprisingly far. She keeps up with her brother, Scout, with no trouble at all, even though he’s ten times her size.

Today, Chimi’s days are spent exploring every corner of the farm and snacking on mulch along the way. She hunts down every patch of sun to warm up in, which we call “photosynthesizing.” She never backs down from a challenge and always finds a way to rise to it, like gladly gnawing on the massive bones Scout eats, which are bigger than she is. She’s also a natural on the trail, hiking alongside the family through the woods and around the farm with ease.

Chimi’s Instagram and TikTok accounts started as a random idea, and none of us thought they would go anywhere. We simply wanted to share her silly moments: the adventures, the sunbathing, and the mulch snacking. But as the views and likes began to pile up, we kept posting.

Before long, collaborations started rolling in, and support came flooding in from people who had fallen for her spunky personality. It’s been amazing to watch a tiny dog who was once left at our farm become a little celebrity and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Chimi has no idea she’s famous. She’s still too busy chasing sunbeams, chewing Scout’s giant bones, and running the farm. But we’re so grateful to everyone who follows along, and we hope she makes you smile as much as she makes us.
